Rivergoddess

from SADHANA by Maneesh de Moor

/

about

From a totally different place on Earth—the Heart of Africa—comes the inspiration and Spirit of this song. The Yoruba people, who live in the rainforests of Africa and later spread to parts of the Amazonian jungle, continue to keep their an- cient nature-religion and rituals alive today. Their music typically consists of earthy drumming and ecstatic singing. This song is about Oshun, the River Goddess. It is said that rivers, lakes, waterfalls, and rain carry her voice on their waters. She is also known as “The Mother of Secrets.” She is the Goddess of Love, Sensuality, and Feminine energy. The vocals are sung by Sudha in a pure, pristine, and ecstatic tone. Dip in the river and rejoice in the refreshing delights of Oshun.
